What vision results in a successful library plan? One that will meet the needs of its community today, and also tomorrow? Diverse community needs, changing expectations and budgetary considerations make way for library innovation starting with vision, collaboration, and planning.
RATIO’s design work for the Richmond Public Library’s Brighouse branch new Launchpad project will allow it to be transformed over time enabling the expansion of new programs that this branch can offer to patrons. It will be a library that builds community and encourages multiculturalism. Refocused traditional library attributes with a digital learning hub, comfortable, quiet spots for reading, and space for activity, creativity, gathering and learning.
RATIO’s architectural solution is both progressive and traditional in its approach to library planning. It is a concept that establishes a long term vision, with a staged implementation that is both flexible and pragmatic. This engenders new modes of learning and collaboration in libraries for patrons of all ages while being flexible enough to satisfy technology-rich program delivery.
